LMU CELEBRATES HOD PHYSICAL SCIENCES AS HE TAKES OFF TO NASA SPACE CENTER USA
On Wednesday, 13th January 2016, Management of Landmark University led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Aize Obayan celebrated the HOD Physical Sciences Dr. Olufemi Adebesin as he proceeds on a three month Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Center, United States of America.
The Vice Chancellor in her remarks appreciated God for the quantum leaps the institution has recorded. She noted that the trip to NASA, USA, is such a magnificent one that must be celebrated due to the fact that Dr. Adebesin is the only African nominated out of over four hundred entries from all over the world, where only four candidates were successful. She added that with the respect, recognitions and accolades the USA attach to the NASA base, the University is elated to see one of its Faculty being granted an opportunity to go on a Fellowship trip there. She affirmed the institution’s commitments to supporting such developments, “The University is spreading her tentacles, where spirituality goes is where development goes, so wherever any of our Faculty goes is where the University gets to, so this is indeed is a big deal’’. She urged Dr. Adebesin to be a good representative of the University and maintain his Spiritual Prowess as he leaves for the USA.
The Registrar, Dr. Rotimi Daniel, also advised Dr. Adebesin to be a good ambassador of Landmark University in NASA, USA, by showcasing the institution whenever he has the opportunity to do so. He charged him to adopt an ambassadorial disposition, as he is an epistle people would read to know about the University.
The Dean, College of Science and Engineering, Professor Clement Adegoke described Dr. Adebesin as an astute researcher whose presence in the College has impacted positively on other Faculty most especially in his department. He said his absence would be felt in the College but has the consolation that his coming back would make more positive impact, most especially in scientific research.
In his response, the HOD Physical Sciences, Dr. Adebesin appreciated God, the Vice Chancellor Professor Aize Obayan and other members of the Management for the opportunity and confidence reposed on him. He promised to work with the University while away, in ensuring more developments in terms of sciences and researches. Going down the memory lane, he described his driving force thus far as God. He thanked God for rewarding his hard work most especially with the opportunity to represent the University, Nigeria and Africa as a whole in the NASA base.
Other accolades which emphasized Dr. Adebesin’s drive for Spiritual excellence poured in from the Director Landmark University Farms, Dr. John Izebere, Director Financial Services, Pastor Moses Olajide, and incoming acting Head of Department, Physical Sciences Dr. Adebimpe, as they all sent him forth with goodwill and prayers. The University Chaplain, Pastor Adekoya Ayotunde led a prayer session to bring the meeting to a close.
